In a major crackdown against narcotics trade, the police and local administration on Saturday demolished two houses belonging to known drug traffickers in Bhadroya village under the Indora subdivision, while two more houses were attached under revenue laws. The action was part of the district’s ongoing anti-drug campaign aimed at dismantling networks built on illicit proceeds.

The demolition drive was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Indora) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, following directions issued by the Additional District Magistrate (ADM). A quick response team (QRT) and a heavy police contingent were deployed to maintain law and order during the operation, which was carried out using a JCB machine.

Kangra and Nurpur SP Ashok Rattan said the drive reflects the district’s zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking. “The accused had encroached upon government land and constructed houses using money generated from the illegal drug trade,” he said.

According to official details, the houses of Sonia, wife of Narendra Kumar, and Paramjeet, alias Gosha, wife of Ajay, both residents of Bhadroya, were demolished. Properties belonging to Deepak Raj, alias Deepa, son of Manohar Lal, and Bua Das, son of Jagdish Raj, were attached as per revenue laws.

Police investigations revealed that all four were habitual offenders engaged in drug smuggling across Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. A district administration probe confirmed that their houses were illegally built on government land. Based on findings verified by the Revenue Department, the Assistant Collector issued eviction warrants under Section 163 of the Himachal Pradesh Land Revenue Act, 1954, and Paragraph 13.15 of the Land Records Rules, 1992.

As per police records, Sonia faces nine NDPS Act cases registered between 2017 and 2025 in Nurpur, Damtal, and Pathankot, with heroin recoveries ranging from 2 to 12 grams. Paramjeet, alias Gosha, is involved in seven cases between 2017 and 2024, involving seizures up to 11.63 grams of heroin and Rs 40,000 cash.

Deepak Raj faces two cases, including one involving 5.52 grams of heroin, while Bua Das has two major cases, including one seizure of 700 capsules of Provonspas and another of 23.26 grams of heroin. Police records also indicate that Bua Das and his son Rohit were earlier caught with over 1 kg of heroin and Rs 1 crore in cash.

SP Rattan affirmed that the police would maintain relentless pressure on the drug network. “We will continue strict action against all those involved in the illegal drug trade—no one will be spared, regardless of influence or background,” he said.
