Shimla/Mandi/Kangra, June 27
Three policemen from Kinnaur were among Himachal’s 11 new coronavirus cases reported until Saturday evening, officials said.
Kandgra reported seven new cases, Kinnaur reported three and Mandi, one. A police station in Kinnaur has been sealed after three cops posted there tested positive for COVID-19, a district official said on Saturday.
The Bhawanagar police station was sealed and the entire staff placed under quarantine to check the spread of the virus, they said.
Kinnaur Deputy Commissioner Gopal Chand has issued an order to declare Bhawanagar town a containment zone.
The three police officials have been shifted to a COVID care centre in Reckong Peo. Contact-tracing is underway, Chand said.
Meanwhile, one person who recently returned from Gurugram tested positive in Mandi on Saturday.
The 28-year-old patient is asymptomatic, health officials said, and has been in institutional quarantine at Rewalsar Gurdwara since his return.
He will be moved to a COVID Care Centre in Mandi’s Dhangsidhar.
Kangra reported seven more coronavirus cases. Among those who tested positive on Saturday was a family of three—a 33 year-old man, his 26-year-old wife and 2-year-old daughter—from Rehlu village. All three recently returned from Gurugram.
Besides them, three men, ages 48, 58 and 68, and a woman, age 20, tested positive. Of these, two had recently travelled back from the national capital region, and two others were primary contacts of already diagnosed cases.
All new patients have been sent to COVID care centres.
Himachal’s COVID-19 tally now stands at 875, with 361 of these still active cases.
The state has reported seven deaths so far.
