Shimla, August 23

A couple was killed while their one-year-old child went missing after a car they were travelling in plunged into the Pabbar river in Jubbal sub-division of Shimla district.

The deceased have been identified as Susheel Kumar (29), and wife Mamta (27), residents of Jhalta village in Jubbal.

The accident took place on Thursday evening when they were on their way to Jhalta village. Susheel lost control of the vehicle near Bhalu Kyar area and it plunged into the river, killing them on the spot. The accident was noticed by locals who informed the police.

A police team from Rohru reached the spot and recovered the  bodies from the river with the help of locals. The bodies were taken to Civil Hospital, Rohru, for post-mortem.

Rohru DSP Ravinder Negi said the search for the toddler is on.
