A couple from Hamirpur was arrested for alleged drug trafficking late last night. Acting on a tip-off, police raided their residence and seized 600 grams of charas, 74 grams of chitta and 5 grams of opium. In addition, over Rs 2.19 lakh in cash was confiscated. The male suspect was arrested during the night, while his wife was apprehended early this morning.

SP Bhagat Singh Thakur confirmed the arrests and said the accused will be produced before the court for police remand. He reiterated the police department’s commitment to eradicating drugs from the district, highlighting public support in the ongoing anti-drug campaign.

In a separate operation near Bhota town, the police arrested another individual and seized 15 grams of narcotics. SP Thakur said this arrest could provide crucial leads in tracing both the sources and destinations of drug supply networks.
