The Indora police arrested a 20-year-old youth from a nearby village late on Tuesday for allegedly sexually exploiting a 14-year-old girl of the same village.

As per the police, the accused was a cousin of the minor and had been allegedly sexually exploiting her for the past two years.

The girl felt dizzy at school yesterday and when asked by her class teacher she narrated her tale of woes. The teacher rushed her to the local Civil Hospital. The police were intimated by the hospital authorities and after recording the girl’s statement a case was registered against the accused. He was arrested in the evening. The girl who hailed from an underprivileged background was living with her stepmother after the death of her mother and was stated to be frightened by the prolonged sexual exploitation by her cousin.

Her medical examination was conducted and statement was also recorded in a judicial court on Wednesday. Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan said a case under Section 4 of the POCSO Act and Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) had been registered against the accused. The accused was produced in the court on Wednesday.
