Firm action unfolded across Sirmaur as the district police, acting under the zero-tolerance policy directed by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, executed a coordinated night-long crackdown on illegal mining.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Nischint Singh Negi,

who deployed multiple teams across vulnerable locations on the nights of December 10 and 11.

Police teams from Puruwala, Majra, Sadar Nahan, Kala Amb, Rajgarh, Sangrah, Renukaji and Paonta Sahib police stations were stationed strategically to intercept illegal transportation of mined material along key routes.

Intensified surveillance and surprise checks formed part of the planned and targeted enforcement drive aimed at dismantling the network of illegal mining operators active in the district.

Officers said the impounded vehicles formed part of the operation to extract and transport minerals illegally, posing serious threats to the environment and public safety.

SP Negi emphasised the department’s uncompromising stand, stating: “Illegal mining is an assault on both nature and community safety. The police will continue to strike hard and consistently, no violator should expect any leniency.”
