In a significant move to support working women and promote child welfare, the district administration of Kangra has inaugurated a crèche and breastfeeding centre on the premises of the mini-secretariat complex. The facility has been set up by the Department of Women and Child Development.

Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa stated that the centre aims to provide a safe, supportive environment for both women employees and visitors, offering care and nutritional services for children aged six months to six years.

The centre will remain operational from 9.30 am to 5 pm on all working days, ensuring a nurturing space for working mothers to balance professional responsibilities with childcare.

Addressing Anganwadi workers gathered on the occasion, the DC said: “Breastfeeding is essential for the physical and mental development of a child. This facility will significantly benefit women working in the mini-secretariat.” He also reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring that all eligible women and children receive benefits under key government schemes such as Mission Tripti and Mission Bharpoor.
