On the first day of the 52nd Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Memorial Tournament (SSBMT) Outdoor Finals at the CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bio-resource Technology, Palampur, yesterday; eight cricket and eight volleyball league matches were organised.

In the cricket league matches, CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad; CSIR-NAL, Bangalore; CSIR-NIO, Goa; CSIR-NGRI, Hyderabad; CSIR-NIScPR, New Delhi; CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow; and CSIR-NPL emerged as the winners.

The winning volleyball teams were CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad; CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh; CSIR-IIP, Dehradun; CSIR-CEERI, Pilani; CSIR-CECRI, Karaikudi; and CSIR-NAL, Bangalore.

Today, 16 league matches in cricket and volleyball were played. Dr Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director CSIR-IHBT, initiated the matches. Winning cricket teams included CSIR-NAL, Bangalore, and CSIR-IIIM, Jammu. In volleyball, CSIR-CEERI, Pilani, and CSIR-NAL, Bangalore, emerged victorious. Participants from across the country showcased their energy and dedication, with institute staff cheering them on.
