The Customs Department today raided the Alcobev Pvt Ltd, an ethyl methyl either (EME) manufacturing unit, located in Sansarpur Terrace area of Kangra district.

Sources said the raid started on Friday morning. A team of officials from the Customs Department, Delhi, seized all records regarding the purchase of material by the firm. The officials from the Department of Industries, Kangra, were also called by the Customs Department.

Rajesh Kumar, GM, Industries, Kangra, confirmed that the raid on the unit would continue till the report was filed. He refused to divulge details of the raid.

Many drug manufacturing companies have switched over to manufacturing sanitisers after the lockdown was imposed and the demand for sanitisers has increased. Sources said the firm used to manufacture raw material for making sanitisers.
