A team from Cyber Police Station (North Division), Dharamsala, has arrested two cyber fraudsters, involved in separate cases of online financial frauds, from Rajasthan, ASP Praveen Dhiman said.

He said that the arrests were made under Sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 66D of the Information Technology Act.

The first case dates back to September 17, 2024, when an investor from Nagrota Surian of Kangra district was defrauded of Rs 71.62 lakh. Acting on the investigation, the cyber police team arrested Manoj Kumar Gurjar, a resident of Saloda Industrial Area, Gangapur, Rajasthan, from the jurisdiction of Sawai Madhopur PS.

In another case registered on February 5, 2024, an investor from Palampur was cheated of Rs 22.25 lakh. The accused, Chandra Mohan Sharma, a resident of Vijay Nagar, Mirzapur, Ganganagar, Rajasthan, was arrested from the jurisdiction of Bindaika PS, Jaipur.

During the investigation, the police recovered Rs 2.08 lakh from them, Inspector Kamlesh Kumar, who led the operation, said. Legal proceedings have been initiated, he said.
