Chamba, July 31
Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh today said that the upgradation of the road connecting tourist hotspot Dalhousie with Khajjiar would be carried out under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF). Besides, better parking facilities would be provided in Dalhousie under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.
Singh was speaking at various programmes in Dalhousie and Khajjiar on the first day of his visit to Chamba. He directed officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) to prepare a detailed project report for the upgradation work of the Dalhousie-Khajjiar link road.
He emphasised that priority is being given to the development of remote and backward areas. He said Chamba is classified as an aspirational district and includes two tribal sub-divisions. Regular reviews of various departmental schemes are being conducted virtually to ensure that projects are completed within the designated time with high quality.
During the visit, Singh held a meeting with district officials of the Public Works and Urban Development Department in Khajjiar and provided necessary instructions to the officials concerned. He also heard the grievances of the local people and directed the departmental officials to resolve these.
Present on the occasion were MLA Neeraj Nayar, former minister Asha Kumari, acting president of the district Congress committee Kamal Thakur, president of the district youth Congress committee Sunabh Singh Pathania, Dalhousie SDM Anil Bhardwaj, Superintending Engineer Public Works Diwakar Singh Pathania, Executive Officer Municipal Council Rakhi Kaushal, along with various departmental officials and representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions. — OC
