DC inaugurates door-to-door campaign

A meeting of the District Tuberculosis Eradication Committee was held on Saturday at the office of the Chief Medical Officer in Reckong Peo, the headquarters of the tribal district of Kinnaur.

The meeting was chaired by the acting Deputy Commissioner Dr Maj Shashank Gupta, who officially inaugurated the campaign today.

The DC said, under the TB-Free India Campaign, a 100-day special drive would be conducted in the district, during which modern equipment would be used to conduct door-to-door screenings and provide treatment.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Sonam Negi said the campaign aimed to raise awareness about tuberculosis.

Health Department teams would visit households to conduct health check-ups, she added, urging all panchayat representatives and area residents to support the campaign and spread awareness about the disease in a bid to make the district TB-free.

On this occasion, District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Sudhir provided detailed information about tuberculosis and the programmes being implemented by the Health Department to eradicate the disease in the district.

District Council Chairperson Nihal Charas, Kalpa Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Lalita Pancharas, Tribal Advisory Committee member Dr Surya Boras, various panchayat representatives and District Health Officer Dr Kaviraj Negi were among those present at the event.
