During the meeting, the DC said the NCC was a youth development movement with immense potential for nation-building.

“The NCC offers opportunities for the holistic development of the country’s youth by instilling values such as duty, commitment, dedication, discipline and moral integrity, enabling them to become capable and aware citizens,” he added.

“The NCC provides cadets with experiences across a wide range of activities, with a special focus on social service, discipline and adventurous training. Active participation in the NCC plays a significant role in keeping youngsters away from substance abuse,” the DC said.

Kashyap also instructed the school administration to ensure school participation in cultural programmes.

He suggested that the school develop cultural teams to provide students with opportunities to participate in district and state-level events.

“Although schoolchildren have no shortage of talent, they often lack suitable platforms to showcase it,” he added.

DC to meet school, sports associations

In a bid to ensure an appropriate platform for students to showcase their sporting talent, the DC here today decided to organise a meeting with sports associations and schools of the district.

He said a joint meeting with all sports associations in the district will be organised in the coming days. Physical education teachers from all Shimla schools would also take part in this meeting.

“Many students perform well in sports in their schools, but miss out on participating in other competitions due to the lack of information about the activities of sports associations,” added the DC.
