This extension applies to workers registered on the e-Shram portal on or before March 31, 2022, who either died or became disabled in an accident on or before that date.
The e-Shram portal, developed by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, is aimed at registering workers in the unorganized sector. Eligible beneficiaries or their nominees can now file claims for compensation under PMSBY within the extended timeline.
As per the scheme, in the event of the death of a registered worker, the nominee is entitled to receive Rs 2 lakh. The same amount applies in cases of total disability, such as the loss of both legs or one arm and one leg. For partial disability involving the loss of one limb or organ, the compensation is Rs 1 lakh.
Applicants must submit key documents including their Aadhaar card, e-Shram card or UAN number, death certificate (if applicable), medical certificate in case of disability, FIR copy related to the accident, and a certificate stating the cause of death.
All pending or previously rejected claims must be resolved by July 31, 2025. It is important to note that while the claim application deadline has been extended, the date of e-Shram registration and the accident must still be on or before March 31, 2022.
