Kin of an industrial worker, who was killed after a machine part fell on him on Friday, staged a demonstration by placing the body outside the Vardhaman Industrial Complex at Baddi, demanding adequate compensation.

They shouted slogans outside the company to get justice for their relatives. His kin rued that the worker died in the company while working, but the management did not provide appropriate assistance, which was condemnable.

The protesters were adamant on not cremating the body until proper compensation was received. The agitation lasted for nearly an hour. On June 5, Dinesh Thakur, son of Raghunath, was suddenly hit while shifting goods by fork lifter machine in the spinning mill. He was referred to PGI-Chandigarh after being administrated preliminary treatment at a local hospital. He succumbed to his injuries last night. The police had registered a case against the fork lifter machine driver, said Baddi Additional SP Ashok Verma.
