A partially decomposed body of an unidentified male was recovered from Chenab river in Tandi area of Lahaul-Spiti district today. The local police received the information and immediately dispatched a team to the site.

Upon reaching at the location, the police team retrieved the body from the river. Initial examination revealed that the body had been in water for an extended period of time, resulting in advanced decomposition.

According to police, the deceased was found wearing black jeans, a black belt, a black hoodie and a black inner lower. A black thread on the right wrist and a chain with a locket around the neck were also found.

Police are currently working to confirm the identity of the deceased.

Notably, a missing persons report for a tourist named Samarth was filed at Koksar police post on April 6. Authorities are now investigating whether the recovered body can be linked to this case.

"Forensic analysis and identification procedures of the body are underway", said a police officer.
