Dehra to host state-level I-Day function

The 78th state-level Independence Day celebrations will be held in Dehra, a subdivision of Kangra district.
Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will preside over the function at Shaheed Bhuvnesh Dogra Stadium in Dehra. Chief Parliamentary Secretaries Ashish Butail and Kishori Lal will also be present at the celebrations.
The DC said different departments, including police, Public Works Department, Jal Shakti, Languages, besides the Municipal Council, had been apprised of their roles during a meeting. The district administration is fully engaged in the preparations for the state-level function.
The DC said departmental officers had been given instructions for the related works and arrangements. During the programme, educational institutions will give performances weaved around patriotic songs. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the officers and the departments to prepare a comprehensive plan for the successful conduct of the function. Besides, the officers and employees of all the departments of the district had been instructed to ensure their presence at the function.
Rehearsals from August 12
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of SDM Shilpi Bekta in Dehra today regarding the preparations for the state-level Independence Day function. In the meeting held with the subdivision-level officers and representatives of the Municipal Council, the SDM gave necessary instructions to keep the arrangements perfect. She said a rehearsal for the parade will be done on August 12, 13 and 14.
Dehra Municipal Council president Sunita Rana; Malkiyat Singh Parmar, president Vyapaar Mandal, Dehra; Adarsh Sharma, Tehsil Welfare Officer, Anju Chauhan, principal, Government College, Dhaliara; and and Ashwani Kumar, naib tehsildar, Pragpur, were among those present in the meeting.
