Dehri college wins two Kayaking gold medals in HPU tourney

The championship is being organised under the aegis of Wazir Ram Singh Government College at Dehri in the Fatehpur Assembly constituency.
On the first day, 14 teams (10 men and four women) representing 11 government colleges of the state participated in the Kayaking (K) competition. In the K-1 (1,000 metres) men’s category – Saurabh Chaudhary of Government College, Dehri, clinched the gold medal while Jasbeer Singh of Government College, Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district, bagged the silver medal. Aryan Sambiyal of Government College, Dharamsala, won the bronze medal.
In the K-2 (1,000 metres) women’s category — Tanvi of Government college, Dehri, bagged the gold medal, Sonia of Government College, Rey, won the silver medal while Simran Kumari of Government College, Dhaliara in Kangra district, secured the bronze medal.
The opening day witnessed enthusiastic performances and a healthy competition among the participants. The remaining events of the championship would be held tomorrow, followed by the closing ceremony. Ggovernment College, Dehri, is hosting the event under the supervision of college principal Sachin Kumar and Dr Devinder Singh, Assistant Professor of physical education.
