The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed a plea seeking action against the Dalai Lama under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for kissing a child on the lips.

The plea, filed by a group of non-governmental organisations, was rejected by a Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela.

“The Dalai Lama has apologised for it. He has said he was just trying to be playful. It should be seen in the context of Tibetan culture,” the court observed.
