The ongoing winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly at Tapovan, Dharamsala, continued to attract young visitors keen to witness the workings of democracy up close. On Thursday afternoon, 42 students of Classes VIII, IX and X from Government Girls High School, Sihunta, visited the Vidhan Sabha complex to observe the House proceedings. Accompanied by Headmaster Sunil Kumar, the students watched legislators debate and conduct business with visible enthusiasm.

Speaking to The Tribune, Kumar said the visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of the state legislature. “This exposure will help them understand democratic procedures that they otherwise only watch on television or in films,” he said.

Throughout the session, the assembly has been receiving several student groups. Earlier in the day, students from Sujanpur Sainik School attended the morning session, while on the opening day, students from Tiara DPS got an opportunity to witness the legislative process firsthand. Officials said students from Gola Bhattiyat GSSS and Armaya World School, Dehra, are scheduled to visit next.

Students from Sihunta also shared their dreams and aspirations. Muskan, a Class IX student, said she hopes to become a doctor, while Deepshika of Class X expressed her desire to become a teacher and contribute to spreading education in society.
