In view of the persistent heavy rains and challenging weather conditions, the Himachal Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) has issued directives to ensure the safety and efficiency of police and home guards personnel engaged in traffic regulation, relief and rescue operations across the state.

The orders, addressed to all Inspector Generals (IGPs), Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Commanding Officers, emphasise the welfare and preparedness of the force. Officers have been asked to ensure that all personnel deployed on duty are provided with raincoats and umbrellas to safeguard them during long hours in adverse conditions.

Adequate arrangements for food and refreshments have been mandated, especially for those posted in vulnerable areas. The DGP has also directed officials to check the functionality of all torches and rescue equipment in police lines and battalions and to maintain wireless sets in fully charged condition to avoid any communication lapses.

To ensure smooth emergency response, sufficient reserves of petrol and diesel must be maintained for police and rescue vehicles. Officers have also been advised to caution their personnel to remain vigilant and prioritise personal safety while operating in hazardous zones.

The police force has been instructed to identify flood- and landslide-prone areas for strategic deployment, monitor evolving situations closely and coordinate with local administrations. Additionally, dissemination of public safety messages through media and collaboration with specialized agencies like the NDRF and SDRF has been stressed to strengthen rescue and relief efforts across the state.
