DGP vows swift action in tehsildar assault case

Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsA delegation of the Himachal Pradesh Revenue Officers Association (HPROA) today met the Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Tewari, over the alleged assault on tehsildar Hari Singh Yadav during the International Kullu Dasehra, and sought strict and prompt action against those involved.
The delegation was led by Narain Singh Verma, tehsildar, Junga, Shimla, who is also the president of the association.
The Director General of Police assured the association that the Police Department was fully aware of the seriousness of the incident and committed to ensuring swift and impartial action against all responsible. He informed the members that seven persons had already been arrested, and that further investigation was actively underway.
He added that efforts were ongoing to identify others involved in the offence and that appropriate legal action would be taken against each of them in accordance with the law.
“Given the sensitive and serious nature of the incident, the investigation has been entrusted to an officer of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) to ensure a fair, professional and thorough probe,” said Tewari.
The Director General of Police also reiterated the department’s commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety of all public servants while performing their duties and upholding the dignity of government officials in the discharge of their lawful functions.
