In his address, MLA Chander Shekhar highlighted Dharampur’s immense agricultural potential, emphasising turmeric cultivation. He announced plans to develop Dharampur as a major turmeric-producing hub, citing the region’s favourable climate and soil conditions. To support this, he revealed the establishment of a Turmeric Seed Bank to ensure easy access to high-quality seeds for local farmers. He also urged farmers to adopt scientific cultivation techniques and fully utilise government subsidy schemes.

Dairy farming was another key focus of the workshop. The MLA proposed the creation of specialised dairy committees and assured financial incentives for farmers investing in dairy enterprises. Additionally, he encouraged the revival of traditional crops such as soybean and kodra (millet), known for their climate resilience and nutritional value.

Officials from various departments briefed the farmers on the benefits of multiple government schemes and encouraged active participation to maximise advantages. Dr Rakesh Patial and Dr Sanjay Thakur provided detailed insights into natural farming, emphasising its role in soil fertility retention and sustainable agriculture, urging farmers to adopt these practices more widely.
