“Implementation of Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) is a visionary step towards employee welfare and would provide protection to them,” said former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal here today. He said this was a historic decision that would ensure financial wellbeing of Central Government employees.

He said the UPS would ensure 50 per cent of the employee’s basic salary as pension after 25-year service and even if he/she serves for 10 years, they would get minimum Rs 10,000 pension every month. He said the scheme also ensured 60 per cent pension to the family after the death of the pensioner. He said the scheme had eliminated the fear of financial instability and suspense amongst employees of the Central Government.

He said the UPS would eliminate the gaps between the Old and New Pension Schemes and provide equal pension to employees of equal ranks.
