Disability assessment camp to be held in Una on November 4

The Chandigarh office of the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) is set to organise a disability assessment camp at the town hall in Una on November 4, Una SDM Vishva Mohan Dev Chauhan said in an official press release.

According to the statement, people with physical disabilities — who want to be fitted with artificial limbs or need other aids — will have to bring their Disability Certificates, issued by a Chief Medical Officer. Besides, the monthly income of the beneficiary’s family should not be more than Rs 22,500 and the Income Certificate, duly certified by the competent authority of the Revenue Department, should be brought, the statement further read.

The SDM said one photograph of the beneficiary, and any document such as ration card, Aadhaar Card or Voter ID card for proof of residence should also be brought for verification. During the camp, ALIMCO officials will evaluate potential beneficiaries and take measurements of the body parts where the limbs would be fitted. These will be fabricated and fitted onto the beneficiaries at a later date.
