Disaster mock drill held at Bhattiyat

A mock drill focused on landslide preparedness and emergency evacuation was conducted today in village Kalighar in Bhattiyat subdivision of Chamba district on Friday. The exercise was held under the leadership of Bhattiyat SDM Paras Aggrawal and in accordance with the directives of the Chamba District Administration. The primary objective of the mock drill was to assess and strengthen the readiness, coordination, and response capabilities of the general public and various government departments in the event of a disaster.

Several key departments actively participated in the drill, including the Public Works Department (PWD), medical officers and healthcare workers from the Primary Health Centre, the police personnel, the Fire Department, Home Guard units, Apda Mitras and and task force volunteers.

Upon receiving a simulated alert regarding a sudden landslide, the SDM immediately issued instructions for rapid response. All concerned teams promptly arrived at the site and carried out evacuation of local residents to safer locations. Injured individuals were given first aid on the spot and transferred to the nearest health facility.

At the conclusion of the drill, a review meeting was held with all participating departments to share feedback and experiences. Emphasis was placed on further enhancing disaster preparedness and inter-departmental coordination for the future.
