Double delight for power board

Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) emerged victorious in both the men’s and women’s categories at the 46th All India Electricity Sports Control Board Kabaddi Tournament, which concluded today. In the men’s final, HPSEBL defeated Maharashtra Biscom 33-16, while in the women’s final, they again triumphed over Maharashtra Biscom with a score of 30-17.

Haryana Power Corporation secured third place in the men’s category, and Maharashtra Transmission finished third in the women’s division. Individual awards were also presented for Best Raider, Best Catcher, and Best All-Rounder.

Speaking at the event, the minister praised the efforts of the players and emphasized the state government’s commitment to promoting sports. He highlighted the importance of extracurricular activities in enhancing educational quality and the physical and mental development of students. He also congratulated the winners and encouraged the other participants to continue striving for success in future tournaments.

A commemorative souvenir was unveiled during the ceremony, showcasing the achievements of the Electricity Sports Control Board in both the power sector and sports development.

Anurag Parashar, Additional Director (PRO) HPSEBL, stated that 14 men’s teams and four women’s teams participated in the tournament, with over 200 players from Himachal Pradesh and other states. Notably, this edition marked the debut of a women’s kabaddi competition.

He also shared that over 15 top kabaddi players from Himachal have earned national recognition, and 77 athletes have been recruited under the sports quota in the last 2.5 years — including 29 in HPSEBL.
