Dr CL Acharya, Former Director ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, and Former Director (Extension Education) CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Viswavidyala, Palampur, has been conferred with the honorary membership of the Indian Society of Soil Science. This is the highest honour of the society.

Recognising his contributions in Research, Teaching and Extension Education in natural resource management, the honour recently was conferred on him during the Global Soils Conference and the 88th Annual Convention of the ISSS at New Delhi. Dr Acharya is a fellow of the ISSS, National Academy of Sciences (NASI, India), National Academy of Agricultural Sciences , National Academy of Water Management and International Academy of Noni Sciences, and a recipient of several Awards including Hooker Award of IARI, ICAR- Hari Om Asharam Trust Award, Dr NS Randhawa Memorial Award of NAAS.
