Driver dies after losing control of garbage vehicle

A driver, employed in the Municipal Corporation Shimla, has been killed after his garbage carrying vehicle plunged into a gorge near Shimla.

The deceased has been identified as Vinod Kumar, a resident of Krishna nagar in Shimla. He was an employee of SHEB society since 2010.

The accident took place today around 7:45 am when he was on his way to Bharyal village from Shimla after he lost control of the vehicle. The accident was noticed by locals who immediately informed the police.

A police team reached the spot and recovered the body from the gorge. The body was then taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) for postmortem.

Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shimla Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the report and said further investigation is underway.
