Drug peddler gets 13-year jail

A Kullu court today sentenced Harish Kumar, a resident of Upper Pandoh in Mandi district, to undergo 13 years of rigorous imprisonment for possession and trafficking of 3.58 kg of ‘charas’. Special Judge-I Prakash Chand Rana imposed a fine of Rs 1.30 lakh on the convict. A failure to pay the fine will result in an additional six-month jail term.
The accused was charged under the NDPS Act, which pertained to commercial quantity possession and trafficking of hashish. “Our anti-narcotics units remain vigilant,” said SP Kathikeyan Gokulachandran.
