Superintendent of Police Nishchit Singh Negi said the police had earlier arrested two drug peddlers in connection with narcotics-related offences.
After completing the necessary legal procedures, assets linked to one of the accused, Sanjay Kumar, alias Sanju, a resident of Ward 10, Deen Nagar, Paonta Sahib tehsil, were seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The financial probe, led by DSP (Headquarters) Ramakant Thakur, was carried out by a specialised financial investigation team that traced the illicit money flow generated through the narcotics trade. Upon completion of the investigation, property worth Rs 1,34,79,508 was identified as illegally acquired and subsequently confiscated.
It may be recalled that on August 15, the police had recovered 40.32 gm of heroin from the house of Sanjay Kumar. Despite multiple arrests in the past for similar offences, the accused continued with the illegal drug trade.
According to the police, Rs 4.43 crore worth of assets linked to various drug traffickers have been seized in six separate cases so far, reflecting the department’s firm stance on dismantling narcotic networks and choking the financial backbone of the drug trade in Sirmaur district.
SP Negi reaffirmed the department’s commitment to zero tolerance toward drug-related activities and ensuring that such offenders face both criminal and financial consequences.
