Two policemen were injured in Nalagarh on Wednesday evening when a routine response to a complaint spiralled into a violent confrontation with two highly intoxicated youths from Khera village. The incident began around 8:30 pm when the police received information about a clash near a liquor vend. A team rushed to the spot only to find two youths, identified as Deepak Thakur and Shyam Singh, creating a loud ruckus inside the shop.

The moment the officials approached, the duo began hurling abuses without any provocation. Deepak, claiming influence by insisting his relative was a judicial officer, tried to browbeat the police. When this failed, he turned violent, striking home guard Pratap Chand with a glass bottle. Shyam joined in, picking up bricks and stones from outside the vend and throwing them at the police team.

As an officer attempted to restrain Deepak, he smashed a broken liquor bottle on the policeman’s ear and stomach. Both men then assaulted the officers with a wooden cudgel, tearing a uniform and leaving two personnel injured. In the chaos, Deepak hurled a brick at a police vehicle, shattering one of its windowpanes. When a bystander, Arun Sharma, tried to intervene, he too was roughed up by the drunken pair.

Head constable Rakesh sustained multiple injuries during the melee. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused fled in their Scorpio. However, a police team intercepted the vehicle on the main road shortly after. Even after being brought to the Manpura police station, their aggression continued. They broke the gate of police station and continued verbally abusing officers. Baddi SP Vinod Dhiman confirmed that both men have been arrested and booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
