The government will strengthen its early warning disaster system to get timely weather alerts and forecasts. The Cabinet Sub-committee on Disaster Management and Rehabilitation took this decision at a meeting chaired by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi here today to assess emergency relief measures in view of recent cloudbursts and flashfloods in the state.

The committee approved the strengthening of the early warning system for disaster management. This system would provide real-time monitoring, forecasts and alerts to help communities and the authorities take preventive action, thereby minimising disaster impact.

To enhance rapid response during disasters, the committee decided to hire a helicopter for speedy rescue and rehabilitation operations. The meeting focused on restoring critical infrastructure, including roads, reconstruction of bridges and revival of water supply schemes in the disaster-affected areas.

Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh and Town and Country Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani attended the meeting.
