Chamba Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the district-level Independence Day celebrations.
He instructed all district officials involved in the event to ensure that the arrangements reflect the dignity and significance of the occasion.
He announced that Education Minister Rohit Thakur would be the chief guest for the ceremony, which is set to be held at the Chaugan ground in Chamba.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Officer of the municipal council to ensure that Chaugan is clean ahead of the event.
He emphasised the need for adequate seating arrangements. It was decided that the event would feature a march-past by contingents of the police, Home Guard, NCC, NSS and the Forest Department. A cultural programme is also on the roster, and officers and employees of various departments who performed exceptionally well will be honoured during the event. — OC
