Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan directed officials to encourage unemployed youth, artisans and others to set up micro and small industrial units under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme.

Presiding over the 242nd meeting of the Board of Directors of Khadi and Village Industries Board, Himachal Pradesh, Chauhan appreciated the board for achieving the target set for the year 2023-24 under the employment generation programme.

The minister directed officials to hold a review meeting of all implementing agencies like Khadi and Village Industries Board and District Industries Centre, along with Khadi and Village Industries Commission, under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary (Industries) to create more employment opportunities for the state’s youth.

During the meeting, approval was given to pay Rs 89.09 lakh, including pending retirement benefits from the year 2020, to 14 retired employees of the board. — TNS
