The Hamirpur Nagrik Manch and Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) at Gandhi Chowk here today organised a protest rally against the “atrocities meted to the Hindu community” in Bangladesh. Pankaj Bhartiya, seh prant mantri, VHP, said Hindus were in a pitiable condition in Bangladesh.

The Hindus of Bangladesh were engaged in the struggle for their survival, and the Hindus of in India stood with them in this time of distress, he added.

He said that Central Government should initiate whatever action necessary to secure Hindus in Bangladesh. Devbhoomi Sangharsh Samiti president Surjeet Thakur said Hindus should unite and people should learn lessons from our Independence.

Swami Sarveshveranand also urged people to follow the teachings of the Gita, Ramayana and the Mahabharata. MLA Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, former MLA Kamlesh Kumari, district BJP president Desh Raj Sharma, District Council member Pawan Kumar and VHP district president Sanjay Goswami were among those present at the event.

Later, the leaders of the protest march sent a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu through the Deputy Commissioner.
