“Ensure quality and maintain pace so the new bus stand is completed at the earliest,” emphasised Nipun Jindal, Managing Director of the Himachal Pradesh Transport Corporation (HRTC), during an inspection of the ongoing construction work on Saturday.

During his visit, Jindal also toured the HRTC workshop and the offices of the Divisional and Regional Managers. He directed the staff of HRTC and the Bus Stand Management and Development Authority (BSMDA) to closely monitor the project’s progress on a daily basis and maintain strict vigilance to ensure timely delivery.

The new bus stand, being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 96 crore, is set to be a modern facility equipped with state-of-the-art amenities for passengers, drivers and staff. The five-storey building will include a parking facility, shopping complex, hotel, rest areas and an administrative block.

Originally announced by the BJP government in 2012, the project had remained dormant for years. It was only after Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu assumed office as Chief Minister that the plan was revived and funds were allocated for its construction. So far, three slabs of the main structure have been completed, and construction is progressing steadily.

Jindal also visited the existing bus stand in town to assess public amenities and overall infrastructure. He was accompanied by Rajkumar Pathak, Divisional Manager of HRTC; Deepak Kapil, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department; Madan Chauhan, Executive Engineer of BSMDA; SS Thakur, Assistant Engineer; and other officials.
