Pangi (Chamba), April 20

An environmental public hearing was organised at Killar today for the construction of a 500 MW Dugar hydroelectric project in Pangi tribal subdivision of Chamba district. The public hearing was organised under the aegis of the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board and conducted under the chairmanship of Resident Commissioner (RC) of Pangi Balwan Chand.

A large number of people from gram panchayats of Killar, Luj, Dharwas, Kufa, Karel, Karyuni, Mindhal and Findru participated and put forth their suggestions for and against the construction of the project. They also asked questions related to many important issues. The project management answered all questions and assured them of building the project as per their suggestions.

The Resident Commissioner talked about taking necessary steps to address the issues raised by the locals with regard to the project. Dugar hydroelectric project general manager Shashi Kant was present on the occasion.
