The inauguration of the Atal Tunnel by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday was telecast live in all five Assembly segments of the district for local party leaders and workers to watch. The arrangements for the live coverage of the event were made at the bus stand in Una, PWD rest house at Bangana in Kutlehar, mini-secretariat building at Haroli, Radha Krishna Temple at Vijapur in Chintpurni and the Rain Basera in Gagret.

Constructed at an altitude of 3,000 meters above the sea level at a cost of Rs 3,300 crore, the 9.02-km tunnel is also a manifestation of resolve of the government to stengthen infrastructure in border areas.

They were excited that the tunnel would not only provide all-weather connectivity but also shorten the distance by 46 km.
