Ex-Armyman arrested for drug peddling in Shimla's Rohru

Former Army personnel has been arrested for being involved in drug trafficking, primarily chitta (heroin), in the Rohru region of Shimla district, police said.

The accused has been identified as Kulwant (42), a resident of Chirgaon, Shimla district.

The accused retired from his service in the Army in 2019.

He was allegedly working as a peddler for Kapil Rajta, an interstate drug peddler, who was also recently arrested by the police from the Rohru region.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rohru Pranav Chauhan confirmed the report and said further investigation is underway.

He stated that the accused had been involved in buying and selling chitta for the past one-and-a-half months and was also a consumer.

"Based on backward linkages, police identified the accused, after which a police team arrested him from Chirgaon," said the DSP.
