On the occasion of Statehood Day, the statue of the first Chief Minister, Dr Yashwant Singh Parmar, was unveiled at the Municipal Council complex, Paonta Sahib, today.

SDM Gunjit Singh Cheema reminded everyone about the stupendous contribution made by Parmar to the development of the state. He said that Parmar was a freedom fighter and had made a mark in the state politics. He played a significant role in bringing Himachal Pradesh into existence as well as its development.

Parmar hails from Chanalag village in the Pachhad Assembly segment of Sirmaur district and is widely known as the architect of the state.
