The Congress today observed the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh as Vikas Diwas in the state.

A function was held at the Congress office here to pay tributes to the six-time Chief Minister, who passed away on July 8, 2021. Virbhadra’s wife and HPCC president Pratibha Singh paid floral tributes to him.

Leader of the Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri, working president Harsh Mahajan and MLA Vikaramaditya Singh were also present. all All block committees also paid tributes.

Agnihotri said that it was for the first time that Virbhadra’s birthday was being celebrated in his absence. “He was credited with ensuring balanced development of Himachal and bridging the emotional gap between lower and upper areas,” he said.

“He dedicated his life to the party and brought about development by laying a network of educational and health institutions, ITIs and engineering colleges,” said Agnihotri. He fought for protecting the interests of the state, right up to the Supreme Court, he added.
