As many as 16 of 18 passengers on board the ill-fated bus died in a landslide.
Capt Jagdish Verma (retd), chairman of the United Front of Ex-Servicemen Himachal Pradesh, along with many ex-servicemen, visited the house of the grief-stricken family at Fagog village, near Barthi town, yesterday.
He said that Vipin Kumar was the most affected by the accident. “The serving soldier lost four members of his family; his wife Anju, two sons Nakash and Arab and his sister-in-law Kamlesh were travelling in the bus on that eventful day,” he added.
Capt Verma said that the soldier suffered irreparable loss but he continued to maintain composure and was gradually coming back to terms from the severe shock.
Capt Verma said, “The condition of roads in and around Barthi is worst. The administration and the Public Works Department should pay attention towards their maintenance. Vulnerable points on the roads should be identified and strict measures should be taken to check such accidents again.”
