The Excise Department is set to receive Rs 114.90 crore from the auctioning of 157 liquor vends in Hamirpur district, marking an increase of Rs 2.90 crore compared to last year’s revenue of Rs 112 crore. The auction process, completed successfully today, has secured significant revenue for the state.

Deputy Commissioner of State Tax and Excise Department Kanwar Shah Dev Singh Katoch confirmed that the auction took place in the presence of Additional District Magistrate Rahul Chauhan, Joint Commissioner of State Tax and Excise Department Vivek Mahajan, and Deputy Commissioner of GST Narendra Sen. The auction was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, 97 units were allotted, generating revenue of Rs 71.64 crore, while the remaining 57 units were auctioned in the second phase.

Katoch stated that this year, the department had set a revenue target of Rs 114.17 crore, reflecting a 10 per cent increase from the previous year. He noted that the highest bids came from the Barsar-Bhota Chowk and Nadaun-Galor units, bringing in Rs 36.11 crore and Rs 23.98 crore, respectively. Other major units, including Sujanpur, Bhoranj, Jahu, Anu, and Hamirpur Bypass, also contributed significantly to the overall revenue.

Last year, 150 liquor vends were auctioned for Rs 112 crore. This year, with 157 vends, the revenue increased to Rs 114.90 crore, surpassing the previous year’s earnings. The successful completion of the auction process has ensured a substantial financial boost for the state, reinforcing the department’s efforts to enhance revenue collection.
