Town and Country Planning and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani today directed the officials concerned to ensure the timely completion of the Mountain City project at Jathia Devi, which was aimed at decongesting Shimla.

He chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) here. “The Mountain City project aims to enhance economic activities and employment opportunities in the region while developing a modern city equipped with basic infrastructure built with the help of earthquake-resistant technology,” said Dharmani. He also directed the officials to work towards the swift preparation of a master plan for the ambitious project.

He stressed the need for the geo-tagging of the HIMUDA assets and directed the authorities concerned to prioritise the requirements of the users in their construction work based on their feedback. The Board of Directors focused on exploring innovative approaches for the construction of industrial and commercial buildings, warehouses and other facilities in designated areas.
