A Class XII girl student has allegedly died by suicide by jumping from a bridge in Shimla after failing in the Class XII board exams for the second successive year. The deceased was a native of Sirmaur district and was living with her parents in a rented room in Shimla.

According to reports, the girl was upset after she came to know that she had again failed in the Class XII exams, the results of which were declared on Saturday last by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education. Feeling distressed, the girl jumped from the bridge near Badagaon village on the Mehli-Shoghi bypass.

The police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and took the body to the IGMC and Hospital for a postmortem. A case has been registered and an investigation into the case is underway.
