Shahpur MLA Kewal Pathania highlighted the cultural and social significance of fairs while attending the ‘Rakkad Ka Baag Chhinj’ in Shahpur. He emphasised that fairs are a valuable heritage from our ancestors, fostering mutual brotherhood and business activities.

He noted that while the format of fairs has evolved, they still serve as platforms for cultural exchange, sports competitions and traditional wrestling. Pathania urged fair committees in Himachal to prioritise local wrestlers by allocating two-third of the budget for them while also inviting renowned wrestlers from outside.

During the event, he inaugurated the Rakkad Ka Baag Akhara stage, constructed at a cost of Rs 7 lakh. He was warmly welcomed by the fair committee and locals, who expressed their gratitude.

The event saw the presence of Shahpur SDM Kartar Chand, Rait BDO Anil, Congress leaders Surjit Rana and Devdutt Sharma, ITI-Shahpur Principal Chain Singh, Shahpur SHO Kartar Singh, Panchayat Pradhan Babita and other dignitaries.
