Agriculture consumers will be charged 30 paise per unit of power and Rs 105 as fixed charges per month.

As per a notification issued, the government will provide a subsidy of Rs 4.74 per unit out of the approved tariff of Rs 5.04 per unit to the agriculture consumer.

Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur had raised the matter of a substantial increase in the power bills of farmers last month and demaded the roll back of the hike in tariff.

In a press note issued on Monday, the government fixed Re 1 per unit for agriculture consumers. A day later, the charges were brought down to 30 paise per unit, same as before.
