He was replying to the issue raised by Janak Raj, BJP MLA from Bharmour, under Rule 62 in the Assembly during the ongoing monsoon session.
The Chief Minister assured Janak Raj that strict action would be taken in the matter. Janak Raj said that a minor orphaned girl was sexually exploited and she became pregnant. “The girl gave birth to a baby. She was then sent to Jammu, where she was married to someone,” he added.
The Bharmour MLA alleged that the officials concerned did not take necessary action in the matter. “I urge the Chief Minister to take strict action against the officials who tried to cover up the matter instead of taking appropriate action,” he added.
Barsar MLA Inder Dutt Lakhanpal raised the issue of the death of a Hamirpur youth in an engineering college in West Bengal. He said that the West Bengal Police had registered a drowning case but the bereaved family suspect the youth was murdered. The Chief Minister said that the state government would look into the matter and a letter would be written to the West Bengal DGP in this regard.
