A fire broke out on the second floor of the powerhouse of NHPC’s Parbati Hydro Electric Project (PHEP), Stage II, at Siund in the Sainj valley of the district following a blast this morning.

General manager, PHEP-II, LK Tripathi said six employees were present at the spot when the incident took place. They were rescued safely. He said two persons were given first aid as they suffered suffocation from carbon inhalation.

Tripathi said various types of data would be analysed to establish the reason behind the incident. A team would visit the damaged area to assess the loss. Electricity generation had been stopped and the power house area had been sealed. — OC
